PASTOR DAVID A. WASHINGTON

Pastor David is a native of the Roseland community on the south side of Chicago, where he was swept by the wiles of urban life as a youth. Brought to faith as a teenager through the evangelistic ministries of the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago, he surrendered his life to Christ in 1992.

It was there at Salem that he began his ministry journey under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rev. James T. Meeks and Youth Pastor Harvey F. Carey. He served for 17 years in many capacities including youth ministry, prison ministry, evangelistic counseling and pastoral care ministry. He also served as the director of Evangelism for Sons of Thunder Ministries, a parachurch ministry,  from 2003-2008 while serving the Gary Indiana community as youth minister and outreach director for the Washington Street Church of God under the tutelage of Pastor Michael Dotson.

Pastor Washington’s philosophy is "ministry serving on both sides of the cross" - focusing on reaching the lost outside of church while nurturing believers to grow in their maturity within the church. Evangelism, education, and community outreach are key highlights in Pastor Washington’s ministry. He earned with honors both the Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from the Moody Bible Institute and a Master’s in Divinity from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2006 Pastor Washington became a member of the Oakdale Covenant Church under the leadership of Dr. D. Darrell Griffin, where he served as youth and assistant pastor from 2009 to 2015. Under Dr. Griffin’s leadership, Rev. Washington grew in his pastoral identity and gifts. He was ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church in 2010; here he served on the Board for the Central Conference Ministerial Association, assisted with initiatives for Compassion, Mercy and Justice, as well as the training of Missionaries in the Evangelical Covenant Church.

It was through these years that the Lord cultivated his heart to reach and shepherd God’s people in the Roseland Community. Through this cultivation, Pastor Washington heard and accepted the call to plant Kingdom Covenant Church - focused on spreading God’s love in the city of Chicago in general and the Roseland, Pullman and West Pullman areas.
Pastor Washington has a heart for the lost and a passion for communicating the Word of God - understanding its power to deliver anyone. In 1996 he married Vernée his greatest love outside of Jesus Christ, to whom both God blessed with a son, David Andrew and daughter, Chemin Mariah.
